About Alma
Alma is a desktop AI chat application that brings multiple model providers into one interface. Users can switch between configured models, keep conversations organized in workspaces associated with project folders, and build on information remembered across chats. The application also supports custom skills and MCP integrations, extending how an assistant can respond or interact with other tools. Beyond chat, Alma includes tools for file operations, shell commands, and web search. It is described as local-first: API keys and conversation history are stored on the user's computer, and the product operator does not run cloud servers to process that data. Some tools can affect local files or execute commands, so users should review permissions and outputs. When a chat uses an external model provider, the model interaction depends on that provider's service and data practices.
