About Amp CLI
Amp CLI is a coding agent designed to work from a terminal or editor. It can use different AI models and offers three modes for different task styles: Smart for broad, unconstrained work, Rush for faster handling of small, well-defined tasks, and Deep for complex work that benefits from extended reasoning. The tool also organizes work into threads that can be saved and shared. This gives users a way to retain an interaction and return to it later, much like keeping a record of a coding task alongside the development workflow. Its terminal and editor orientation places it close to code rather than in a separate general-purpose chat interface. Amp CLI is intended for software development tasks where a coding agent can assist with work of different sizes.
