About Anarch RE
Anarch RE is a portable first-person action game built around classic pseudo-3D raycasting, a rendering style associated with early 1990s shooters. It presents ten levels with interior and exterior settings, using a limited color palette and a set of wall textures. The player moves through the environments, encounters enemies, and uses weapons to progress through the levels. The game includes six weapons that use three types of ammunition, seven enemy types, and boss encounters. Levels vary in floor and ceiling height, and the player can jump. Hidden secrets and easter eggs provide optional discoveries. An optional basic save-and-load system can preserve progress, and mouse and controller support are available as options. Anarch RE is based on Anarch, a from-scratch game, and is described as an SDL3 port. The underlying game is public domain. Its small, portable design and lack of dependencies are part of the project’s stated approach. The RE version carries the classic shooter mechanics into a build that uses SDL3 for multimedia support.
