About aTalk
aTalk is an XMPP messaging client for individual and group conversations. It supports plain-text messaging and end-to-end encryption through OMEMO. Users can share files, images, stickers, and other media, quote or forward messages, and preview shared content before sending. HTTP file upload can deliver files to offline contacts or group chats, and the app includes transfer methods intended to improve reliability. The client supports multiple accounts, conference rooms, bookmarks, room auto-join, message delivery receipts, chat-state notifications, and unread-message badges in contact and room lists. Users can configure heads-up notifications and quiet hours. Text-to-speech and speech recognition can be enabled per conversation. Voice and video calls are supported with several encryption modes. Call waiting can place one call on hold while another is answered, and calls can be transferred through supported services. The app also provides location sharing and playback of location movement, plus a street-view feature that follows the direction the user is looking. An integrated photo editor can crop and zoom images, including profile pictures. aTalk is an extensive XMPP client whose messaging, file sharing, and call features depend on compatible XMPP services and peers. It supports several languages and themes. Its security features include encrypted messaging and multiple call-encryption options; the precise capabilities available depend on the selected protocol and connection.
