About AuthGeek

AuthGeek is a desktop two-factor authenticator that generates time-based (TOTP) and counter-based (HOTP) one-time codes. It stores accounts in an encrypted file on the computer, keeping the codes together in a local vault rather than requiring an online account or synchronization service. Accounts can be added from an otpauth link, a QR code in an image, or a Google Authenticator transfer link. An account can also be displayed as a QR code for moving it to a phone. The vault uses AES-256-GCM encryption with a key derived through Argon2id, and the application includes encrypted backup, plain-text export, and restore functions. AuthGeek is intended for people who want a desktop tool for managing two-factor authentication codes. Its import and transfer options support moving accounts into or out of the desktop vault, while its encrypted file keeps account data on the local machine.
