About Beam

Beam displays live battery readings in the Android status bar and provides a detailed battery-metrics screen. Users can choose a primary unit for the status-bar indicator, including power, current, voltage, charge, energy, temperature, or percent. Additional values can appear in the notification body. The app also reports charging status, plug type, the time charging began, and estimated time to a full charge. Polling frequency is adjustable. Device-specific options can correct power readings reported in microamps instead of milliamps or reverse the current direction on phones that report charging direction incorrectly. Material You colors are supported on Android 12 and later, with a custom color palette on other devices. Themes include light, dark, system, and OLED black; optional backlight glow and haptic feedback can also be enabled. Notification permission is required for the status-bar indicator, and the app must be opened once to start that service. Beam is described as having no ads, tracking, data collection, or third-party sharing.
