About Breakout 71
Breakout 71 is an arcade game that reworks the brick-breaking format as a seven-level run. Players use a paddle to break colorful bricks and catch coins that appear when bricks are destroyed. The coins bounce and roll around the play area, so the player must move the paddle to collect them while also keeping the ball in play. Missing the ball ends the run because there are no extra lives. At the end of each level, the player chooses an upgrade. More than 50 upgrades can change gameplay, including the combo, which determines how many coins appear for each brick broken. The current combo is shown on the paddle and the score appears in the upper corner of the screen. The game is described as playable offline and designed to run on lower-end devices. A fast mode can be enabled if performance is slow. In-game help explains the rules. The short runs and upgrade choices give each attempt a changing set of effects within the same core paddle-and-ball gameplay.
