About ByeType
ByeType is a Markdown-driven voice-input application that lets users define how speech should be recognized and formatted. Users can edit Markdown prompts to set recognition rules, specialized vocabulary, and text-optimization behavior, helping dictate text that matches their terminology and writing habits. The application also includes AI-assisted OCR for extracting text from screenshots, including code displayed in terminals where line numbers, split panels, or line breaks make copying difficult. It can send voice input and screenshots directly to a selected AI provider using the user’s own API key. ByeType is free and open source, and is available for Windows and macOS, with a mobile workflow through iOS Shortcuts. Its processing depends on the selected external provider and configured prompt.
