About Chef Workstation
Chef Workstation is a developer toolkit for authoring and testing infrastructure automation. It bundles Chef Infra Client, InSpec, Habitat, command-line tools, cookbook creation utilities, and testing tools such as Test Kitchen and Cookstyle. The package is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The toolkit supports ad hoc remote execution, remote scanning, configuration tasks, cookbook development, dependency management, and testing. It also includes tools for uploading cookbooks to a central management server. Chef Workstation replaces ChefDK and combines its existing features with newer capabilities, including ad hoc task support and a desktop application. Chef Workstation is intended for developers and administrators building and maintaining automated infrastructure.
