About Constly
Constly is a Markdown editor that renders formatted text as users type while preserving the original plain-text document. Headings, lists, tables, mathematical notation and Mermaid diagrams appear in rendered form, with the Markdown markers shown on the line currently being edited. Its document model is designed to preserve untouched text exactly, including line endings, byte-order marks and trailing spaces. Tables can be edited as grids, and their source formatting is aligned when the user leaves the table. The editor includes a command palette, quick-open, workspace search, tabs, session restoration, a document outline, focus and typewriter modes, Vim-style modal editing and a Git comparison gutter. It can export to PDF, HTML, Word, ODT, RTF, LaTeX and EPUB, and import Word and HTML documents. It opens files with .md, .markdown and .mdx extensions. Constly works offline without an account or server connection, keeps remote images unloaded until allowed, and can optionally save local document history.
