About Crate
Crate is an Android companion for cataloging a physical media collection stored on a personal server. It supports collections of music, films, books, games, and comics, with browsing by category, format, and artist. Items have detailed views, such as album tracklists, film cast, or book information, and the collection can be displayed in either card or list form with format filters and totals. Users can scan barcodes to add items, maintain a wishlist, and record both the purchase price and current market value. The app can show gains or losses and supports additional item photos, such as pictures of a receipt or disc. Selected records can be enriched using optional external data sources, for which users provide their own API keys. Collections can be shared with other users of the same server. Crate caches the collection locally for offline browsing and synchronizes when a connection is available. It requires the corresponding server app. Photos are stripped of EXIF and GPS metadata before upload, and the app is open source under AGPL version 3.
