About Custom Routes
Custom Routes helps climbers mark and share routes on photographs of climbing gym walls. A user selects a photo, outlines the holds that belong to a route, and assigns roles such as start, finish, regular hold, or feet-only. The app exports a full-resolution JPEG with clear outlines, making the route image easy to share with other climbers. Projects remain editable after creation. Users can refine hold boundaries, change hold roles, undo edits, and return to a project later. Holds can be marked manually, or users can enable optional on-device AI assistance to help identify route areas. The AI model can be obtained separately or imported through Android’s file picker; the app checks the model file’s size and SHA-256 digest before using it. Models can be removed from the app’s privacy and data settings. Photos, route projects, masks, and AI inference remain on the device. The app has no accounts, backend service, advertising, or analytics. Custom Routes is focused on creating visual route descriptions from gym-wall images, combining manual editing with optional local assistance while keeping the editable project available for later changes.
