About DeBurrow
DeBurrow is an Android browser for the Gopher protocol, a text-first network for browsing linked menus and files. It can navigate Gopher menus, read text documents, and display images. Its text viewer supports ANSI colors and word wrapping, with a toggle to preserve fixed-width layouts such as maps and tables. The browser includes Veronica and type-7 search, an address bar, bookmarks, browsing and search history, and downloads for binary items. Responses can be cached, and both standard Gopher and TLS-protected Gopher links are supported. The app can open these links from other Android apps, even when it is already running. DeBurrow uses a Material 3 interface and is free and open source under MIT. It provides a modern mobile way to browse Gopherspace, with search, history, downloads, and readable formatting for text and ANSI art. It does not require an account or trackers.
