Demodulate is an internet radio player with a deliberately compact feature set. Users can search for stations, browse a local station list, save favorites, and revisit listening history. Its player interface focuses on playback rather than presenting a large collection of additional media tools. Station information comes from a radio-station directory, while the station streams themselves require a network connection. Playback can continue in the background, and the app can show current track information when a station provides it. Headset buttons are supported, and playback can be restored after a phone call. The app also attempts to recover from various network failures, which helps when a station stream or connection is interrupted. Favorites and listening history are cached locally, and the app can switch between available directory server instances. The interface uses Material 3 styling, with large controls intended to be easier to use while moving or in a car. It can also be used in split-screen mode. The player’s scope remains focused on radio stations: search, the station list, favorites, history, and playback. Users can optionally submit playback history to improve the local station list for other listeners or to help refresh stream addresses. This is described as optional.
