About Drift
Drift is a local-first RSS and Atom reader that fetches feeds directly from their publishers and stores subscriptions and reading history on the device. It works offline with previously fetched articles and does not require a third-party service to function. Users can import or export subscriptions in OPML, search articles, tag feeds, and mark articles as favorites. For feeds that publish only summaries, Drift can fetch full article text. Background refresh and new-article notifications keep subscriptions current, and a home-screen widget can display articles. An optional self-hosted sync relay can keep subscriptions and read status aligned across the user’s own devices; it is not required for reading and does not act as the source of truth. Drift has no ads, analytics, or tracking according to the supplied description. Network use is limited to fetching subscribed feeds and, if configured, the user’s own sync server. It is available on Android and several desktop or web platforms, providing a consistent local reading workflow across devices.
