About DSU Sideloader

DSU Sideloader provides an interface for installing and booting a Generic System Image through Android’s Dynamic System Updates feature. DSU can create separate system and user-data partitions for a temporary system image, allowing a compatible device to boot that image and later return to its original system with a reboot. The tool is intended for testing another system image without replacing the device’s regular system partition. Use requires Android 10 or later, an unlocked bootloader, a device with dynamic partitions, and a compatible system image supplied by the user. The bootloader must be unlocked because many devices only accept images signed by the manufacturer when the bootloader remains locked. DSU Sideloader is a front end for the Android feature; it does not provide the image itself. After installation, Android displays a persistent notification that can be used to boot into the installed dynamic system. Returning to the original system is done by rebooting. The supplied description emphasizes the required device configuration and explains that behavior depends on whether the device supports DSU and accepts the selected image.
