About DSub
DSub is an Android music client for listening to a personal collection hosted on a Subsonic-compatible server. It streams tracks from the server and caches songs on the phone to reduce mobile data use and make selected music available offline. The server can transcode files when needed so the device can play formats it would not otherwise support. The app includes lock-screen and notification playback controls, gapless playback, and playlist management. Songs can be added to or removed from a playlist, and tracks in the current queue can be rearranged by dragging. Playback can pause when another app requests audio focus, such as a navigation app. Cache size, network timeout, and buffer length can be configured. DSub requires a Subsonic server and a music library on that server; it is not a streaming catalog or standalone player for a remote service. A demo server is available for trying the app. The description notes that use with a personal server beyond a trial period requires a key, and that recent versions depend on Google Play Services. DSub is useful for people who maintain their own music server and want streaming, caching, playlists, and offline playback on Android.
