About DSub2000
DSub2000 is an Android music player that connects to a Subsonic-compatible server and plays tracks from a personal music library. Songs can be cached locally to reduce mobile bandwidth use and remain available when the phone is offline. The server can transcode media when needed, allowing the app to play formats the device may not otherwise support. Playback controls include lock-screen controls, gapless playback, and automatic pausing when another app requests audio focus. The Now Playing list supports drag-and-drop reordering. Cache size, network timeout, and buffer length are configurable, and the user interface can be customized. DSub2000 requires an existing Subsonic server and library; it does not supply music or hosting. It is intended for users who want to stream their own collection and keep selected tracks cached for listening away from a network connection. The app is useful for managing a playback queue and listening across devices while retaining control over the server and collection. Its operation depends on the server being reachable for browsing and streaming, while cached tracks provide offline access.
