About F-Droid Basic
F-Droid Basic is an Android app manager for browsing and keeping track of free and open-source apps. Users can search descriptions, explore categories, and filter out apps that are incompatible with their device. It can notify users when updates are available and optionally download and install updates automatically. The app also tracks older and beta releases and can show associated links such as donation or source-code pages. The Basic edition has a reduced feature set: nearby app sharing and the panic feature are not included. It targets Android 13 and can perform unattended updates without a privileged extension or root access. The client can connect to compatible app repositories and checks repository index signatures and app hashes. Its role is to help users discover and manage updates for compatible open-source Android software.
