About Fcitx5

Fcitx5 is an Android input method framework with keyboard engines for several languages. It supports English spelling assistance; Chinese input through Pinyin, Shuangpin, Wubi, Cangjie, and custom tables; Vietnamese layouts; Japanese, Korean, Sinhala, and Thai engines; and generic input through RIME schemas. Additional plugins provide Zhuyin and Jyutping options. This lets users choose an input method suited to the language and writing system they use. The virtual keyboard includes an expandable candidate view, clipboard management for plain text, customizable colors and background images, key-press previews, and long-press popups for symbols. It also has symbol and emoji pickers. The keyboard layout itself is not yet customizable. Fcitx5 combines multiple language engines with a shared keyboard interface and tools for selecting and editing input.
