Folderlogs

Folderlogs scans user-selected folders and records changes to their files.

About Folderlogs

Folderlogs scans user-selected folders and records changes to their files. It calculates file hashes using MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, or SHA-512, allowing later scans to identify when files have been added or changed. Users can start a scan manually or enable automatic background scanning. The app keeps a searchable log that can be queried by file name, folder name, hash, or checksum. Each logged file’s hash can be viewed and copied for use elsewhere. This makes Folderlogs useful for maintaining a history of changes in selected folders or checking whether a file’s contents differ from an earlier scan. Folderlogs is a monitoring and record-keeping tool for folders rather than a backup or synchronization service. The hashes it calculates provide identifiers for file contents; the app’s description focuses on detecting changes and searching the resulting log.
