About Fortify
Fortify is a background client that lets authorized web applications use local certificates and smart cards across different browsers. It runs in the system tray on Windows, macOS, and Linux and provides a local connection between the browser and the client. When a web application requests access, Fortify establishes a secure session and asks the user to approve the request before allowing the application to use those local capabilities. This enables browser-based services to work with certificates or smart cards available on the computer. Fortify connects web applications with local authentication hardware through a user-approved workflow. The approval step keeps the user involved when local authentication resources are requested.
