About FOSS Browser
FOSS Browser is an Android web browser with a privacy-focused set of profiles and controls. Each profile can configure options such as ad blocking, JavaScript, cookies, and fingerprint protection. Profiles can be assigned to particular domains, so selected sites can consistently open with a trusted or more restrictive configuration regardless of the currently active profile. The browser includes an ad blocker with an updateable block list and lets users choose a search engine or define a custom one. Other privacy controls include disabling autofill and deleting browsing data when the app exits. Tabs can be restored after restart, links can open in the background, and bookmarks can be organized with named filters. Toolbar gestures can be configured for actions such as switching tabs, reloading, opening bookmarks, or returning to the previous site. The interface follows Material You, can match system day or night mode, and places controls near the bottom for one-handed use. Users can keep the screen awake and back up bookmarks, history, trusted sites, and settings to an SD card for restoration on a new installation or device. The browser states that it does not collect user data. One limitation listed is that third-party cookies cannot be disabled.
