About FreeView
FreeView is an Android reader for opening Medium articles through a reader service chosen by the user. To read an article, share its link with FreeView, paste the link into the app, or open the link with FreeView from the system chooser. The app rewrites the link for the selected service and displays the resulting page in an in-app web view. Links on custom publication domains are also described as supported. Several reader services are available, and the user can change the selected service in settings. Reading history is optional and can retain the most recent 20, 50, or 100 articles; entries can be reopened or selected for deletion. Bookmarks are also mentioned as a way to revisit saved reads. Display options include light, dark, or system theme and adjustable article text size, with a Material 3 interface and a collapsing top bar. FreeView functions as a link handler and reader window. The supplied description says it does not host, scrape, or modify article content; it opens publicly available pages through third-party reader services, which are outside its control. It is not affiliated with Medium or those services. This distinction helps explain the workflow: FreeView manages the link and reading interface, while the selected external service supplies the page that is displayed.
