About git-age
git-age is a Git filter that encrypts and decrypts files transparently as they move into and out of a repository. The clean and smudge filter stages connect encryption to Git’s file-handling process: file content can be stored encrypted in repository history and made readable in a working tree for authorized use. This approach lets users work with files in their usual form while protecting the copy recorded in version control. It is useful for projects that need to keep selected files encrypted when committed, such as configuration containing sensitive values. git-age focuses on integrating file encryption with Git operations, rather than requiring users to manually encrypt and decrypt files around every commit.
