About Git Shadowtree
Git Shadowtree maintains a separate Git repository alongside a main repository. It tracks a defined set of files and directories in the shadow repository while keeping them decoupled from the main remote and excluded from the ordinary working repository. This arrangement can be useful for maintaining local or auxiliary files, such as project guidance, separately from the primary source history. The extension forwards most Git commands to the shadow repository, while initialization, cloning, adding, committing, and pulling are handled directly for the shadow workflow. Git Shadowtree is intended for developers who need separate version control for selected files near a main project. It provides a distinct repository context without mixing those tracked files into the main repository’s remote history.
