About gloomy

gloomy turns the phone’s screen into a very dim colored light for use in the dark. It is designed for situations such as moving around at night without switching on a bright room light. The screen defaults to red, and users can swipe horizontally to move through colors from red to amber and yellow to white. Swiping vertically or using the volume keys adjusts brightness. The app can dim the color itself below the device’s normal minimum brightness, keep the screen awake, and hide system bars while it is open. A Quick Settings tile can launch it directly, including from the lock screen. The last selected color and brightness are remembered. Brightness changes apply only while gloomy is open. gloomy requires no permissions or network access and contains no ads or tracking. It is a small night-light utility intended to help users see in low light while keeping the display at a very low brightness.
