About GoL Screensaver
GoL Screensaver creates automatically updating screensavers for Onyx BOOX devices using Conway’s Game of Life. The display evolves from a selected starting pattern, and users can choose foreground and background colors tailored to color e-ink screens. A pattern picker provides common starting states. An optional calendar overlay can show upcoming events on the screensaver. Users can choose which device calendars to include, how far ahead to display events, and the overlay’s position and size. Calendar access is read-only. Event titles may appear on the lock screen, while private events are shown as “Busy”; event details are not cached. Calendar content refreshes when the wallpaper updates or while the app is open. Screensaver updates occur at most every 15 minutes and only when there is sufficient battery. The device’s app-freezing setting must also allow the app to run for the display to update. Calendar selection and settings do not transfer to another device.
