About Gugal
Gugal is an Android app for searching the web through a clean, lightweight interface. It supports two search options: a commercial search provider and SearX or SearXNG instances. Users can choose which engine to use, and the app is designed so additional search engines can be added by developers. Using the commercial search option requires a custom search engine ID and API key, which are configured in the app. The product information notes that searches through this provider may be linked to the user’s account. The alternative requires access to a SearX/SearXNG instance, allowing users to select a different search setup. Gugal uses Material 3 and Material You design. It is intended for users who want a dedicated search interface with a choice of providers, while making the configuration requirements and account implications of each option clear.
