About Holos
Holos is a mobile Fediverse client that runs an ActivityPub server on the phone, giving the user an identity for posting and interacting across compatible social networks. Rather than requiring an account hosted by a traditional social server, it stores posts and messages locally and uses a relay server to provide a stable address for federation. It supports posts, likes, boosts, replies, quotes, mentions, and direct messages, with real-time message delivery. Timeline views can be filtered to show all content, media, videos, or text only. Holos works offline and syncs automatically when the device reconnects. A WebSocket connection provides notifications, while an activity queue prioritizes delivery and catches up after offline periods. The app is designed for mobile use and includes background syncing intended to limit battery use. The product description says posts and messages are stored locally in an SQLite database and that traffic is proxied through a relay for IP privacy. RSA keys are generated on the device, and the private key does not leave the phone. Since a relay is involved, the system depends on that service for a stable federated address and traffic handling. Holos is intended for users who want a phone-centered ActivityPub identity with offline access and cross-network interaction, rather than signing up with a conventional hosted account.
