About House of Cards
House of Cards is a solitaire-style game played with a standard deck plus four suit-specific jokers. The player distributes cards among four houses, each associated with a suit, and tries to use all 52 regular cards without closing every house. Card values are added within each house: an Ace counts as 11, face cards as 10, and number cards at face value. Reaching a total of 31 earns a score bonus based on the house’s suit and empties that house so it can be used again. If a house total exceeds 31, that house closes and cannot accept more cards. A house with six cards that still totals below 31 is treated as 31, earns a larger bonus, and is cleared. The player wins by placing all 52 standard cards and then records the score; the game is lost if all four houses close. Each joker has a matching suit. Placing it in the corresponding house acts as an immediate 31 and awards a large bonus, while placing it in a different house ends the game. This creates a risk in deciding when and where to use the special cards. House of Cards is suited to players who enjoy a single-player card puzzle involving arithmetic, risk management, and planning how to keep houses open long enough to play through the deck.
