About Immich Uploader
Immich Uploader scans media files on an Android device and uploads them to the user’s Immich server. An API key is required to connect. Users can configure the app to apply tags after upload and can choose different behavior for photos, screenshots, downloads, and other file categories. The app can optionally remove local media after a successful upload, with the choice configured by file type. Because this can delete the phone’s copy, users should confirm their server and upload settings before enabling removal. The uploader needs internet access and permission to read media files. When using a local server address on the same network, Android 17 and newer require local-network access permission. Immich Uploader is a companion for people who already run an Immich instance; it does not provide a storage service itself. Tagging depends on the server account’s permissions, and uploads can still work if tag access is unavailable, though tags will not be applied. The evidence recommends using a dedicated server account with only the necessary permissions.
