About Libre Contacts Backup
Libre Contacts Backup creates local backups of Android contacts, preserving contact records, their associated raw records and data, and contact groups. It also includes SIM-card contacts in each backup. When restoring, users can choose to return SIM contacts to a SIM card, the device address book, or both, and select which SIM to use on multi-SIM devices. Backups can run on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule without an internet connection. A single LCB archive can contain JSON, VCF, CSV, and normalized data. Users can export CSV or vCard files manually and optionally protect backups with AES-256-GCM encryption using Android Keystore support. Retention settings can keep a chosen number of recent backups or preserve more frequent recent copies and fewer older ones. Restore logic is designed to keep distinct contacts separate even when they share a name. The app is open source, local-first, and does not require an account or cloud service.
