About Linthra
Linthra is an early-alpha Android music player for local files and music servers that users operate themselves. It can scan a selected folder and browse songs, albums, and artists with search. Users can also connect to supported self-hosted servers, test the connection, sign in, synchronize the library, and stream tracks. Downloads are optional and occur only when requested, with mobile-data downloading disabled unless the user opts in. A local cache supports offline playback and can be limited in size, with tracks pinned to remain available. Queue management, playlists, favorites, shuffle, repeat, synced lyrics, and background playback are included. Playback controls work from notifications, the lock screen, Bluetooth devices, wired headsets, and Android Auto. Casting to compatible speakers or displays is supported. The app does not read tags or album artwork from local files yet, so those entries may show file names. Some server features, including certain favorites, lyrics, cover art, and full playlist synchronization, are also listed as future work. The app is still in alpha and not described as production-stable. Linthra has no ads, tracking, analytics, or crash reporting. Server passwords are exchanged for an encrypted local session token. It is intended for listeners who own their music or maintain their own server and want a local-first player with optional streaming and offline downloads.
