About LocalTube
LocalTube runs a self-hosted video streaming server on an Android device and lets other devices on the same local network browse and watch through a web browser. The phone serves a responsive interface and video player, while computers, tablets, and televisions can connect to it. Playback supports quality selection, adaptive speed, seeking gestures, subtitles, picture-in-picture, and an autoplay queue. Other devices on the network can also control active playback. The app can import subscription lists and followed topics, open vertical short-form videos in a dedicated player, and store watch history locally. Settings and history can be backed up or restored as JSON. Users can customize preferred resolution and themes. LocalTube provides cross-device playback from a phone-hosted server, with its web interface and control features available to devices on the same network.
