About LocReminder
LocReminder is an Android alarm that rings when you reach a chosen place rather than at a chosen time. Set a destination by searching for its name, placing a pin on the map, or entering coordinates, then choose how close you need to be before the alarm triggers. Multiple alarms can be saved with separate trigger radii from 100 metres to 3 kilometres, and the app displays the current distance to each destination. An alarm can use a system ringtone or an audio file, and it can display a task description or the destination name. The alert is designed as a full alarm, with looping sound, vibration, and a full-screen notification over the lock screen. Alarms can repeat every day or on selected weekdays, which supports regular commutes and errands as well as one-off journeys. Light and dark themes are available. The arrival check uses GPS and does not require an internet connection. The app stores map areas on the phone so they remain visible in areas without signal; searching for a place by name and loading map imagery do require connectivity. Its battery-aware checking is less frequent when the user is far from a destination and becomes more frequent nearby. The app also includes a reliability screen with device-specific background-setting guidance and an alarm test. This matters because some phones restrict background activity, which can prevent location alarms from ringing. LocReminder is described as having no account, advertising, analytics, or server, with saved destinations kept on the device.
