About Luteal
Luteal is an offline-first menstrual cycle tracker that distinguishes user-recorded observations from statistical estimates. Users can log flow, pain, mood, energy, physical symptoms, and private notes. Basal body temperature can be recorded in Celsius or Fahrenheit, with disturbance notes and calculated thermal shifts. Cycle history is shown in an interactive calendar and through longitudinal variability analysis. The app can prepare a clinician-consultation summary for export as PDF or HTML. It also separates observed facts from estimated ranges and does not make diagnoses or medical claims. Access controls include a PIN or biometric app lock and screen masking. An optional Duo feature supports granular sharing with a partner, while optional synchronization is end-to-end encrypted and can use a self-hosted or community server. The app is free and open-source under GPLv3 and is described as having no ads, analytics, or trackers. Luteal is useful for privately recording cycle-related observations and organizing a history for personal reference or discussion with a clinician. Its estimates are not diagnoses, and it is designed to keep recorded observations distinct from calculations. Users can keep data local or choose encrypted synchronization.
