About markdown-style
markdown-style is a linter and formatter for Markdown documents. It checks files against a fixed set of writing and formatting conventions, reports what needs to change, and can automatically fix most of the issues it detects. The tool is designed for consistent Markdown in projects where many people or automated systems edit documentation. One central rule is a sentence per line. Keeping sentences on separate lines means that changing one sentence usually produces a focused text diff instead of reflowing an entire paragraph. The linter also checks heading and list marker consistency, trailing whitespace, and blank-line formatting. These conventions make documents predictable to edit and easier to review in version-control diffs. The tool has no configuration: users point it at a Markdown file, review its findings, and apply the available fixes. Its opinionated approach reduces decisions about formatting by enforcing one set of conventions. This makes markdown-style useful in documentation workflows where uniform structure and readable changes matter more than tailoring a linter to individual preferences.
