About Modern T9
Modern T9 is a nine-key predictive keyboard for Android. It offers T9 word prediction in English (US) and Spanish (Latin America), with the option to use either language or both. Users can switch to ABC multi-tap typing, choose accented characters from a letter strip, long-press keys for symbols, or flick down for a digit. The keyboard learns commonly used words and moves them forward in suggestions. Saved phrases can be assigned short key sequences, making frequently entered text available from a few taps. Users can reopen a word in place to select another spelling, and an editing pane provides cursor movement, selection, copy, cut, paste, undo, clipboard history, and emoji entry. Keyboard height and the space above the navigation bar can be adjusted. Modern T9 is built with no internet permission or networking code, and includes no ads, analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting. Learned words and phrases are stored as readable text in private app storage; clipboard history exists only in memory. Android backup includes settings but deliberately excludes the dictionary. This focus on local storage is relevant for a keyboard, which handles text entered into other apps. The prediction engine is a replaceable module behind the keyboard interface.
