About Moraine

Moraine is a command-line backup client that creates snapshots over SSH and rsync or stores backups through rclone. Its snapshot approach uses hard links so each run appears as a complete directory tree while unchanged files do not consume additional storage for every snapshot. This makes it possible to browse a snapshot as a full backup and restore files from any saved point. The rclone backend supports cloud and object storage as well as FTP, giving users a choice of remote destinations. The tool is written in Rust and the Windows package provides the command-line client. Moraine is intended for users who want versioned backups of files on remote or cloud storage. Its snapshots preserve historical states while limiting duplication, and restoration can select files from any snapshot.
