About NCarousel
NCarousel changes an Android device’s wallpaper using images stored in a folder on the user’s Nextcloud server. After connecting to a Nextcloud account through WebDAV, the user selects a remote folder, such as one containing photos. The app can then download an image and set it as the device wallpaper. Wallpapers can be changed manually through a next-image action or a Quick Settings tile. Automatic rotation is also available, with a minimum interval of one minute. An optional on-device cache can reduce repeated downloads when images are used again. This makes the app suitable for rotating through a personal image collection without manually saving the pictures to the phone first. NCarousel connects only to the configured Nextcloud server, according to its description. Credentials are stored encrypted on the device, and the app says it has no trackers. A working Nextcloud instance with WebDAV access and a selected image folder is required; the app does not provide image hosting or a built-in online collection. Its role is narrowly focused on the wallpaper workflow: access a remote folder, choose or rotate images, and apply them to Android. Users who already store pictures in Nextcloud can use the same collection as wallpaper sources, with either manual control or scheduled rotation.
