About NetLogo

NetLogo is a programmable environment for building and exploring multi-agent models. Users can create simulations in which hundreds or thousands of agents act independently, then observe how their local behavior produces larger patterns over time. This makes it useful for studying complex systems in natural and social settings. The software supports both modeling and exploration. Students can open existing simulations and vary conditions to see how the system behaves, while teachers and curriculum developers can author new models. This connects programming with experimentation: users can modify rules and examine how interactions affect the overall result. NetLogo is intended for education and research in agent-based modeling. The evidence does not enumerate built-in models, programming constructs, or external data integrations. Its established purpose is creating and exploring simulations of systems whose behavior emerges from interactions among many agents.
