About No Thanks!
No Thanks! is a card game for three to seven players built around deciding whether to take a numbered card or pay a chip to pass it. The deck uses cards numbered 3 through 35, with nine cards removed before play. The number of chips each player starts with depends on the group size. On a turn, the active card is revealed. A player can take it, along with any chips that have accumulated on it, or pay one chip to pass it to the next player. If everyone passes, the last player must take the card and its chips. Play continues until all cards have been claimed. At the end, players total the values of their cards, but consecutive runs count only as the lowest number in the run. For example, a sequence of four consecutive cards is scored as if it were just the smallest card in that sequence. Chips reduce a player’s score, so passing can be useful, but it costs a chip. The player or players with the lowest total win. The game is a compact exercise in risk and timing: taking a card adds points, while passing spends a limited resource and may leave a better offer for someone else. It is suited to groups who want a simple-to-learn game with tactical choices around cards, runs, and chips.
