SOFTWARE OVERVIEW

NoiseCapture

NoiseCapture measures environmental sound and calculates acoustic indicators such as average and peak levels over a route.

About NoiseCapture

NoiseCapture measures environmental sound and calculates acoustic indicators such as average and peak levels over a route. A measurement can be annotated with text, photos, and tags, then viewed on a map or in the measurement history. Users can calibrate one phone against another and share anonymous measurements to contribute to collaborative noise maps. Audio is not recorded; the app calculates indicators from sound measurements. Measurement quality depends on the phone’s microphone and calibration. The app recommends holding the phone with its microphone uncovered, and an external calibrated microphone can be used. It cautions that a phone does not replace a professional sound meter, so results are intended to characterize an environment rather than provide professional-grade acoustic assessment.
