About NTFS Folder Audit
NTFS Folder Audit scans local Windows folders and network shares to show who has access to files and folders. It presents permissions in a grid with identity, access type, decoded rights, inheritance state, and flags. Folders with permissions set directly instead of inherited from a parent can be identified and isolated for review, helping administrators spot exceptions in a file share. The utility can compare two paths to find permission differences, such as between a share and its backup. It exports interactive HTML reports or CSV, and logs folders the user cannot read instead of treating them as empty. A command-line interface supports scheduled or headless audits. NTFS Folder Audit is intended for administrators reviewing Windows file permissions across local or network storage.
