About Oktale Sonnenzeit

Oktale Sonnenzeit is a clock that displays location-specific solar time using octal numbers. A solar day runs from one solar midnight to the next and is divided into eight octal hours, each containing sixty-four octal minutes, with sixty-four octal seconds per minute. The display includes an analog-style hand that completes one cycle per day and a digital three-digit octal time. Zero is placed at the bottom for solar midnight and four at the top for solar noon. A golden arc shows the interval between sunrise and sunset. Users can manage and select locations. An online search can add a location, but that feature sends the typed search term to an external knowledge service. The product says this is the only feature that uses an internet connection. Oktale Sonnenzeit is intended for people interested in alternative time systems and solar time, rather than as a replacement for conventional local clock displays.
