About Open TimeLimit

Open TimeLimit sets schedules and usage limits for apps on a device. Apps can be grouped into categories, each with times when it is allowed. Daily or multi-day usage caps can be configured and combined, and users can grant extra time or temporarily suspend all limits. Multiple profiles support devices shared by parents and children; parent profiles are unrestricted and can switch to another user’s profile. The app identifies which app is in use and blocks it when its schedule or allotted time is exhausted. Depending on Android version, it uses usage access or task information to detect the foreground app. Notification access can hide notifications from blocked apps and count or block background audio, while accessibility and overlay permissions support opening a lock screen over blocked apps. Location access is used to apply rules based on the connected Wi-Fi network. Open TimeLimit does not include the multi-device linking available in its related full version. Its reliability can be affected by manufacturer power-saving settings, which may stop background monitoring. It is intended for setting app-use rules on a single device, with separate user profiles and configurable time allowances.
