About otel-viewer
otel-viewer is a desktop application that collects traces, metrics, and logs over OTLP/gRPC. It stores telemetry in DuckDB and provides a web interface, a REST query API, and a read-only SQL console. Queries can be charted automatically, making it possible to explore observability data without exporting it to another tool first. The collector, API, and interface are bundled into a single desktop window. DuckDB provides local analytical storage for the collected data, while SQL lets users query the stored records directly. Automatic charting turns query results into visual summaries. otel-viewer is intended for developers and operators who need to inspect telemetry from instrumented services. Its combination of collection, local storage, query access, and charts creates a compact observability workflow. The tool handles traces, metrics, and logs sent through the specified protocol.
