About Oubliettes
Oubliettes is a logic puzzle in which players reconstruct a dungeon’s walls from the counts shown for each row and column. Monsters and treasure chests provide additional clues: monsters occupy dead ends, while each chest sits in a special open treasure room. Elsewhere, corridors are one cell wide and the connected dungeon must remain passable. Each grid has a unique solution, so the puzzle is designed to be solved through deduction rather than guessing. The app includes a 250-level campaign spanning five difficulty levels and grid sizes from 6×6 to 14×14. All campaign levels are available from the start. Endless mode generates new grids on the device, and a daily mode offers a fresh puzzle while keeping the latest two weeks accessible. A step-by-step tutorial teaches solving techniques, and hints progress from suggesting where to look to explaining why and identifying specific cells. Players can fill a row or column by dragging, undo and redo moves, and resume saved progress. Solved grids can be shared as text without the solution, allowing another player to solve the same puzzle. Accessibility features include screen-reader support, a magnifier, two-finger zoom, plain digits, and a calm mode without animation. Oubliettes works offline and does not require an account. It includes looping medieval music and sound effects with separate volume controls. The combination of fixed puzzles, generated grids, tutorials, and explanatory hints supports both learning the rules and practicing independently.
