About Panoramicon
Panoramicon is an Android viewer for full spherical panoramas covering 360 degrees horizontally and 180 degrees vertically. It presents the panorama as an immersive scene: tilting and rotating the device changes the viewing direction, allowing the user to look around naturally rather than dragging across a flat image. The app uses the phone’s motion sensors to control the view. Panorama images can be opened by sharing them to the app or using Android’s “Open with” action. Links can also be passed to it. Pinch-to-zoom changes the level of detail, and scrolling has momentum for smooth movement through the scene. A fullscreen mode hides the system interface, which can be toggled with a tap. Panoramicon is designed for equirectangular panorama images, the common format that maps an entire spherical scene into a rectangular image. It can be used to explore 360-degree photos captured by cameras or phones, or other compatible panorama images. The app focuses on viewing rather than editing or stitching panoramas. Its motion-controlled interface is useful when users want to inspect a scene by looking around inside it, while zoom and fullscreen controls provide additional ways to view the image.
